The Westchester Food Bank (NY) has been fighting hunger for more than 20 years and Maia Yogurt is proud to donate to help in that fight.
Based on the 2009 U.S. Census, more than 95,320 Westchester residents, about 10% of the population, are not sure where their next meal is coming from. Of that population, 33%, or approximately 33,000, are children. Hunger may permanently affect the development of a child’s mental, emotional, physical and social skills necessary for work and career in adulthood. Children who are hungry are more susceptible to illnesses and hospitalization than children who are not hungry.
According to Christina Rohatynskyj, Executive Director for the Food Bank for Westchester, “for every dollar donated to the Food Bank, we can purchase $4 worth of nutritious food to feed a hungry child. Every donation helps.” The Westchester Food Bank has been fighting hunger for more than 20 years and we were proud to donate Maia to help in that fight.
