Maia Yogurt was pleased to support the 5th annual Colin Leslie Walk for Celiac Disease.

Social Repsonsibility - Colin Leslie Walk for Celiac DiseaseCollin Leslie, the 18 year old founder of the event, was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2005, and has been organizing this event since then to raise money and awareness for Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is a digestive condition triggered by consumption of the protein gluten, which is found in bread, pasta, cookies, pizza crust and many other foods containing wheat, barley or rye.

Since 2005, Colin has raised $335,000 all of which he has donated to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. In total, approximately 3000 people have now attended one of his walks. As expected, this year’s walk was fantastic! People came from all over the tri-state area to sample gluten-free fare, including Maia Yogurt, and participate in the walk. It was very moving to see so many get so excited to find a gluten-free yogurt!

Thank you to Colin and everyone who came to support the event!
